Pigeons in Italy...

In certain places, pigeons in Italy believe it is their job to entertain. The fact that you can buy bags of seed and reward them for their performances may contribute in some small way to reinforcing these beliefs. In Venice especially, we observed groups of pigeons tickling the funny bones of small children or perching on larger children. The numbers of pigeons you see in these photos tends to significantly understate the number actually present in the vicinity at the time. Think in terms of hundreds!

When the pigeons are not entertaining the tourists, they believe they are entitled to hang out anyplace they choose.

These last two are my favorite Italy posts so far! The Henry's Pub one for obvious reasons...
I like the pigeons perched on the fountain too...looking like they own the place!
