Those who have visited us in WI know that we have one rule: you have to cook one meal. Sarah was unaware of this rule, so I told her that it would be fun for the two of us to cook a meal together. We decided on a Labor Day brunch. Here are we two cooks. Much uncle/niece bonding occurred during this exercise, and we had fun!!
Meanwhile, I worked on a "pear pizza." This was a simple pizza-style crust covered and baked with a mixture of pear slices, chopped raisins, lemon juice, and a bit of sugar.
In addition to making the oatmeal and beverage, Sarah mixed eggs for an omelette that had chopped tomatoes, Italian sausage, and cheddar cheese. At the table, we served a green salsa as a topping for the omelette.
Dick and Rina are here with us for a few days, having arrived late yesterday. Here is Dick being served a piece of the pear pizza. Everyone seemed to enjoy our selections, which were served mid-morning as a brunch. It was truly great fun for me to spend a couple of hours in the kitchen with Sarah slicing, dicing, blending, mixing, stirring, paring, baking, cooking, and serving! A bit of lively banter added to the fun, of course.

Wow! You guys are quite the cooks - and adventuresome too. Looks like fun, though I'm still stuck on eating very small meals at a time right now. From what I understand, once the baby comes then I really will feel like eating for two.
Hello to the Deckers. This is from David and Elisa Betzer. David is Loren Betzer's son through Peter C. Betzer and Mary E. Drake, daughter of James E. Drake and Lydia Decker. We left a comment on your posting for the family reunion of 2007 but don't know if you have had a chance to see it. We just wanted to know if you could let us know when the next reunion is planned and would like to plan to attend. We have also been doing some family history and have quite a bit of information on the Frinks, Drakes and Betzers. We haven't found as much about the Decker line but maybe you could fill us in. We also found among Dad's things a number of old tintype photographs of the Frinks, Deckers and Drakes but need some help in identifying them. We had hoped some family members might be able to help us. We would love to hear from you.
Since we are new to the Google/Blogger, I forgot to check the email follow-up box. So this is to share our email address with you.
