Well, last Saturday was the big fishing opener up here. Even the WI governor was out for an hour on our lake, though we have no sighting to report. (I'm not sure we would recognize him if we saw him!) There were lots of folks up here for this first weekend of fishing. Indeed, the lake and river were a little congested with boats, we thought. The reports we have heard suggest that few, if any, had major fishing success. The governor caught zero, we heard.
We fished each of the last three days, and we caught several, though nothing to write home about (though I guess I'm writing here). We caught at least one each of: bass, northern, and walleye. All but two were let go. I think we caught eight or nine all together. We have one northern and one walleye in the freezer to add to future catches for a future dinner. Both were on the small side, but keepers for eating, nevertheless. In the end, it is more about the peacefulness and being out in beautiful surroundings than it is about catching fish. We used up all but a few of the minnows we had for bait, so here is my darling wife using the last few from the dock. She actually did catch a small northern.
