Swig the Pig

We have just arrived at our lake cabin in Wisconsin for a couple of weeks. We were last here in middle October, so it has been about 3-1/2 months since we were here. Except for exactly a year ago, when we were in New Zealand and then Australia, we have been at our cabin every year in February to enjoy the winter sports, the beautiful snow, and, more recently, to watch some of our grandchildren as they participate in the annual Barnebirkie cross country skiing event, which is part of the big Birkebeiner event (read more by clicking here–the Birkie may be the biggest international cross country skiing event in the world).

The snow here is beautiful, and after the long eight-hour drive north, we are snug as a bug in a rug. On the way, we stopped for groceries, during which time I purchased a small supply of what may be my favorite beer–River Pig Pale Ale by the local Hayward Angry Minnow micro brewery (read about them by clicking here). As I write this, I am (as they say locally) "swigging a pig."
I'll be posting more stories and pictures during our time here, but that's it for now!
