There's a Fat Mouse Out There Somewhere

At long last, we are back at the lake. We have not been here since January, when our visit was cut short by a frantic call from home indicating that water was pouring into our house there. With all of that now behind us and a number of other obligations taken care of, we are once again here in the north enjoying our place and anticipating the start of fishing season tomorrow.

We have the hot tub flushed and refilled and ready to go, and a good portion of the yard has been raked. There are always some fallen limbs and lots of leaves after the winter snow passes. After hibernating in the garage for the winter, Gus is back at the entrance to the property with his "Welcome" sign in hand (not his "Go Away" sign).

When I opened up the garage, I found the following waiting for me. When we left so rapidly in January, I simply put the filled bird feeder on the garage floor next to the bag of sunflower seeds. This "neatly" arranged "pool" of shells and seeds suggests that there is a fat mouse out there somewhere. He/she is probably wondering what happened to the supply, because it has been cleaned up and is now being used to lure the birds back to our yard.

Sorry that I've neglected this site lately. We have either not had much to write about or have forgotten the camera at opportune times. Will have to work on that!!
